Blurb: Attending a vampire-themed masquerade party seems like a strange way to spend a night, but Nora is sick of frat parties and bars. Meeting Alec was just a bonus. Despite their immediate attraction, however, Alec is wary of involving himself with Nora, and when she pushes it, she discovers that Alec has secrets that could destroy them both. Is she willing to risk everything for a man she hardly knows? How far into darkness will he take her?
When Nora attempts to follow, however, things grow more complicated. Someone is hunting her – someone tied to a secret that goes back to the beginning of man. Soon, Nora finds herself drawn to two men, each with his own agenda. Can she save them both when one is destined to die?
1. What inspired you to write this book?
It is a kind of a mashup of a lot of things I like. Vampires, sex, mythology, and hot brothers. I watch a lot of “Supernatural!”
2. Do you have a favorite part?
Without choosing a scene that reveals too much, here is a cute moment between Alec and Nora:
“I have risked your life and I’m sorry. I promised myself I would never fall in love again, but that night… I can’t resist you, Nora. I only wish you did not feel the same.” His broken heart is evident in his face, but I refuse to let him take responsibility for this. We both fell in love and he can’t be blamed for my emotions, just as I can’t control his. There is nothing to apologize for, and there is no going back.
3. What is this book’s genre and would you ever write in another genre?
“Bitter Fruits” is paranormal erotic romance. It could be called New Adult since Nora is a college senior. I write much steamier erotica, but I would like to try horror. Guess I need a new name for that.
4. Do you have any reviews for it yet? If so, what was your favorite one?
I have a bunch of reviews. Chasity Breeze posted this lovely one on her blog: http://chasitybreeze.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-five-star-review-for-bitter-fruits.html?guestAuth=8VW3Tj8BAAA.Ani54_WW5TwvP7r4XAtRxiCxJlGTm4uzFAJ46VRosLk.KfFHiql_zooAkET2up2-Ug
My favorite so far is from someone on Goodreads. It is this quote in particular: “Sarah Daltry writes with a stunning fluidity that draws the reader into her world and holds the reader willing hostage there with her until the novel ends. This book is exceptionally well-written, with characters that are riveting, and a story line that is a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill vampire novels of society’s norm.”
5. Do you have any other books out that you’d like to mention?
I have a lot of VERY smutty erotica, which is different from “Bitter Fruits.” I do have a novella called “The Quiver of a Kiss” that is historical erotic romance about Helen of Troy. That is more like this, in that the romance is a major factor. However, there is no HEA in that novella, because Helen’s story did not end well.
6. Are you currently writing anything else?
I am working on a novella called “Forget Me Not,” which is college erotica (and heavy on the sex). I am also writing “Immortal Star,” the sequel to “Bitter Fruits!”
7. Do you have any upcoming releases?
“Bitter Fruits” is technically not released, although it is. We have a big release day planned for 6/25. “Immortal Star” comes out 9/12.
